  1. Bman in January

    Wednesday, January 29, 2014

January is one BUSY month for Bman. He turned 6 months on the 17th and from the start of January, here is what the Bman has been up to:

    1. Drooling and working hard on getting some of those pearly whites to pop through. The Mister is tired of hearing me ask Bman, "When we gonna see some of those toofers??"
    2. Sitting up! He is content to sit within his circle of toys, chewing on each one and flapping them up and down in the air.
    3. CRAWLING! Depending on how curious he is, he will crawl right on over to an object (and it's usually something he shouldn't play with).
    4. STANDING! I managed to catch the act on video - Bman pulled himself up to standing
    5. Trying solids. We are just playing with different veggies and consistencies right now. I puree or mash up sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas, and bananas. There is no clear winner yet, however, the past couple of days have been a little more successful. Bman seems to be getting used to the whole idea of having mush shoved into his mouth and having to swallow it. The results are amusing. He has a mix of emotions during these "feedings".
With all of these developmental milestones comes a serious disruption of "the routine" around our household. Usually, he is a great nighttime sleeper, but he has been waking more often. Additionally, yesterday was the first day in the last 2 weeks that Bman did not need to nap ON me for his entire nap (and Bman without a nap is not worth the fight of putting him his crib). Without all this growth, Bman is a not-so-great napper (at most he will go down for about an hour in the morning). With all this growth, he is downright unbearable. Thirty minutes only, and only ON me. Then he is generally irritable. I view yesterday as a ray of hope. Perhaps now that Bman knows he can sit, crawl, and stand, he will wear himself out enough to take a couple of decent naps during the day. Cross my fingers...

We go for his 6 months doctor's appointment on Wednesday next week. Then, Bman will have his first major travel experience as he and I fly out to California to visit my parents. There he will meet his soulmate - the beach :)
